I use dumb cheap office pens at work and my handwriting looks atrocious (I've had coworkers and my boss come up to me later and go, "What is this word...?" and I'm like, I swear I have way better handwriting than it looks), so good stationery makes me happy when my writing looks normal. It's so nice to set down to write a letter or a journal entry and watch the ink go smoothly across the page!

I communicate more fluidly on quality stationery. It seems to tell me that what I am writing is worthwhile and I think good stationery conveys to the recipients that I value their time and thought, that I will try to ease their pain in deciphering my writing by providing paper that is aesthetically pleasing or at least feels nice to the touch. Sentences committed to durable paper are more likely to be kept and I often think how much perspective on history, both the cataclysmic and the mundane, is lost in e-mails. Good stationery feeds my illusion that maybe something of me will remain after pursue some euphemism or other into that undiscovered country.
