No Foolin’: Deception Pass

I’m a big fan of all of the inks that Matthew at The Wet Pen makes. They’re all excellent. The flow is good and the colors are great. Some of them have sheen. Some of them have a color-shift as they dry. Some have both!

They’re great. This is one of my favorites in the set, too. Deception Pass is a blue that turns green as it dries. Sometimes it doesn’t change on the weirder papers out there, but it usually shifts to mostly green. Fun!

The price is great on these, too, and they go fast whenever Matthew releases a batch of them. So sign up for the back in stock notification emails so you know when they’re coming.

Just look at that. Awesome.

Predictably, Deception Pass is great on the new Sanzen Tomoe River.

The way that the colors pop and separate in this ink is special.

It’s not bad on the bad copy paper, either. There’s definitely some bleed-through, but this is bad paper and the nib is wet double broad so it’s expected.

This is on the original recipe Tomoe River paper. Stellar.

I found some things that were kinda close, The Sailor 162 is as close as you’re going to get, but I think I like the blue content of the Deception Pass a bit more.
