Lennon Tool Bar’s Want

Okay, so this is an ink that I expected to love, and I…don’t. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it, either.

The color is great. It’s a beautifully dark blue with some really nice sheen and some shading that is worth checking out. It’s also pretty darn good on the bad copy paper, and that’s nice.

The downside is that it gives me hard starts a lot. I think it’s just too packed with color, and it wants to dry out in the nib whenever you’re not using it. I think this would be a much better ink if it were thinned out a bit. I don’t do that sort of thing for reviews because I want to show you the thing as it will be when you buy it, but it’s an easy thing to do, and you probably should try it if you have Want.

I’d suggest thinning small amounts of ink in a sample vial using some of the Dilution Solution from Birmingham Pen Co to do that. You could also do it by adding a couple of drops of distilled water to the vial, but that’s not quite as good as a real dilution solution.

Okay. On to the ink!

Oh! I bought mine from Atlas Stationers (affiliate link).

See? It’s really nice. Great color and, once you get it going, it flows just fine. It’s that initial start-up that’s a problem.

The pictures below are in a gallery, so just click on them for close-ups of the ink on that page above.

It’s really pretty darn good on the 20lb copy paper.

This Maruman paper is excellent, and it really shows off the sheen in this ink. I always recommend Mnemosyne (among others) when folks are looking for a great fountain pen paper.
